What historical event fascinates you the most?
I was ten years old. It was during Geography class when the principal of Mackinaw Middle School in Saginaw, Michigan, made the announcement President Kennedy had been shot. A few minutes later he told us the president was dead.

In 1977, I personally visited Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas. It’s impossible to describe the feelings I had as I looked at the Texas School Book Depository, stood behind the picket fence on the grassy knoll, saw the pedestal where Abraham Zapruder was standing as he filmed the assassination, and stared at the spot where President John F. Kennedy’s head literally exploded.
It’s difficult to describe the feelings I have now, sixty-one years to the day after the president was murdered, knowing there are still files being withheld from the public.
I have a lot of questions that will probably never be answered.
I can’t imagine hearing this news; yet, I’ve been fascinated (in a reverence way). I visited there, too. Books, documentaries,…I have questions too.
When the Challenger exploded, with Christa McAuliffe aboard, I was in high school and completely saddened. I’ll never forget being a young principal on Sept 11, 2001. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
