This is a question I have never asked before, but it continues to bother me. When someone sneezes, how many times am I obligated to say, “Bless you”? Does every sneeze require a blessing, or does one bless you cover all of the sneezes from beginning to end? What if you don’t say bless you after the first sneeze? Is the bless you retroactive? If I don’t say bless you after each sneeze, will the sneezer think I’m not serious about my bless you? I don’t want that. If the person sneezes eighteen times, I’m really going to get tired of saying “Bless you,” but I don’t want to leave someone in that non-blessed sneezer limbo.
