I wrote this song twenty years ago. I sang it one time not long after I wrote it. Obviously, these are only the lyrics, but the music is still fresh in my mind.

I felt guilty, even though I believed,
Forgiveness I had received.
Even though I had run
From the things I had done,
From the guilt I was never relieved.
Then one day, the Lord spoke to me
And what He said, set me free.
He said, “I’ve forgotten all the things you have done, my son,
Now I’ll tell you just what I see.”
He said, “I see the blood of the Lamb, I see the blood.
Your life is new, I am living in you,
And clean before me you stand.”
He said, “I see the blood of the Lamb, I see the blood.
Where the blood has stained, no sin can remain,
I see the blood.”
Then the weight that I carried was lifted.
In a moment, all my sadness was gone.
I was free from the fear where I drifted,
And I knew that to God I belong.
He said, “I see the blood of the Lamb, I see the blood.
Your life is new, I am living in you,
And clean before me you stand.”
He said, “I see the blood of the Lamb, I see the blood.
Where the blood has stained, no sin can remain,
I see the blood.”
